The History...

Picture
    We are a non profit 501 c) 3 educational organization that is affiliated with Kindred Spirits. Our primary goal is to help bridge some significant gaps between the medical field and the transgender community.

   TransHealth Coordinators originated with Jennifer M. Barge organizing free HIV testing at transgender conferences in 2008. As she became more active and involved with the transgender networks, she recognized the need to have a resource for both transgender people and the medical community in regard to primary health concerns.
Jennifer previously worked as an HIV educator and advocate for many years in Florida. She is certified in both pre and post HIV test counseling, is a CNA-1 and was a major endorser of providing condoms in the prison system for inmates to be able to practice safe behaviors. Unfortunately, in the State of Florida, this goal has yet to be achieved.
    TransHealth Coordinators has educated and helped cultivate several transgender health models for transgender health programs with several medical agencies across the country, including:

* SomeOne Cares of greater metro Atlanta/ Atlanta Ga.
* Fulton County Health Services / Atlanta Ga.
* DeKalb County Health Services/ Atlanta, GA.
* N.A.E.S.M. [National AIDS Education Services for Minorities]
*Western North Carolina Community Health Services/ Asheville, NC.
* W.N.C.A.P. [Western North Carolina Aids Project] Asheville, NC
* Alexandria Health Department / Alexandria,Va.
* Nova Juniper Program / Northern Va.
* AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod / Cape Cod, Ma.
And we are working with Mountain Area Health Education Centers to produce the “Southeastern Transgender Health Summit 2012” in August of 2012.
We have provided specific pages for both the transgender community and health care providers so as to act as a resource for both communities. Please visit each page. For direct contact please email us at:
